Frequently Asked Questions

The below are some answers to questions customers have asked us most, but if there is anything you want to know and the answer is not below, please call us. There is nothing we love more than talking to our customers about their experience with our collagen, magnesium and other products.

General

Our products are stocked across Ireland in many health stores and pharmacies. You will also find them online with many retailers throughout Ireland and the UK and we are growing our presence in UK retailers.

Yes, HealthReach products are gluten free.

Under EU regulations, products like collagen or magnesium that are naturally gluten free, cannot use claims that try to make their products seem like they have benefits their competitors don't have. That's why we don't see any water supplier claiming they supply gluten free water! Water is just water, and our collagen is just collagen (with a bit of vitamin C in there to give your skin a boost).

When the tubs are first filled in the factory, they are not half full. There is some space at the top to make sure none of the powder spills over the edge and it is also aerated when it is first placed into the tub. Secondly, we only use standard size tubs so the next size down for our large products simply wouldn't be big enough for the powder!

Our products are formulated, blended and packed in Ireland. One exception to this is our effervescent tablet, as we simply cannot source this in Ireland. Our powders are all made in a factory in Shannon and our capsules are all made in a factory in Galway. We believe in keeping all manufacturing within Ireland to support Irish jobs and reduce the carbon footprint associated with transporting products. Sustainability and customer satisfaction is at the core of our beliefs and we do not put profit over these values.

Collagen

We use Peptan collagen which is manufactured in France by Rousellot. When we researched our product, we decided that Peptan was by far the best collagen available and more scientific studies had been carried out on this ingredient that any other collagen peptide. While this ingredient is more expensive than the other collagen peptides we have been offered, the quality, traceability and effectiveness of the product is second to none. Just try our unflavoured collagen in a drink and see how the powder just melts into the liquid, with no grainy residue or impact on taste. Pure quality like no other.

There is no particular time of day that is best. The unflavoured collagen is ideal for adding to coffee so whatever time of day you have coffee would be perfect! Some studies had their participants take collagen peptides before or after a workout, so this may also be a good time to take it.

We blend our product with Vitamin C, which helps support your body's natural collagen production to support your skin and there is an EU authorised health claim to that effect. Beauty claims such as anti-aging, improving elasticity, or reducing fine lines and wrinkles, are not permitted on foods or food supplements and may only be made on cosmetic products. We don't want you to put our collagen on your skin - we want you to drink it!

We use a very high quality Bovine Collagen from Peptan that has particle size of 2,000 Daltons, the same size as their Marine Collagen. It really cannot be overstated the impact of using this ingredient, as they are the global leader in collagen based solutions. A 2019 study showed that there was minimal difference in absorption between the different sources of their collagen.

D-Mannose

Irish manufacturers must comply with a vast number of food regulations that are rigorously enforced. This means that we are very restricted what we can say about products and we use only health claims that have been rigorously assessed and authorised by the EU. The EU has the strictest food regulatory system in the world and Ireland tops the list of food safety in the EU. Irish food producers are constantly inspected to ensure we meet food safety, labelling and advertising standards. Imported products are not subjected to the same level of scrutiny so you will see claims being made on their products. While this does seem very unfair for Irish producers, the advantage is that Irish food products are among the safest and highest quality in the world.

Buy Irish! And also, contact your local politicians to raise this issue. Food regulations are enforced in Ireland by Environmental Health Officers, who do a fantastic job, but only have the time to visit Irish manufacturers and the bigger distributors, meaning there is little enforcement online or on shop floors. That's why imported products make all sorts of claims that Irish producers aren't allowed to make. Tell your politician this must change.

None really! The capsule can be convenient to take, whereas the powder is a bit more cost effective. Both products contain pure D-Mannose, with no additives or fillers.

Magnesium

This will depend on the reason you are taking it. For example, one of the benefits is for supporting the nervous system, so some people take it before bedtime. It will also support energy, so the morning can be good to take it for this benefit.

Magnesium can affect the absorption of some types of medication. It is advisable not to take magnesium 2 hours before or after medication.

Yes, magnesium carbonate and citric acid will react and form magnesium citrate in cold water. However, the reaction will take place much faster in warm water. Therefore, we advise to add a small amount of hot water to the powder, then top up your glass with cold water.
